Experience
I have a degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University of Minnesota- Duluth. My special area of tutoring involves helping students with their different courses in mathematics. These courses range from Algebra, Calculus, and Differential Equations with Linear Algebra to Discrete Mathematics and Statistics. I believe all pupils can solve even complex math problems if they are given the opportunity to learn how at their own speed and achievement level rather than in a formal classroom setting. I have found some students simply need guidance for properly using the resources in their own textbooks. Many school math texts are crammed with information and example problems, but may lack any method for a slower learner to clearly understand the lessons. Mathematics is a field of knowledge learned in steps where it is impossible to climb higher without understanding the basics of each previous level. I also think students gain a greater learning capacity for other arts and sciences once they attain the discipline needed to advance through math courses. Modern computer technology is built on mathematics and there is a push in science to reduce everything to theories of math terms and elemental functions. I can tutor any student who sincerely wishes to learn.
